hasta means until and can be used in a local as well as in a timely sense.

   hasta meaning until in a local sense

Entonces sigues andando hasta el pueblo y verás la iglesia.
= Then you continue until the village and you'll see the church.

   hasta meaning until in a timely sense

hasta la vista
= until we see again
hasta mañana
= until tomorrow
Hasta que se de cuenta que le engañaron pasará por lo menos una semana.
= Until he notices that he was deceived passes at least a week.

Note that hasta can also mean even in some constructions.

   hasta meaning even

Hasta él se va a dar cuenta que quieres engañarle.
= Even he will notice that you want to deceive him.
