dentro is again a preposition with a clear counterpart in English: within.

Dentro de un año vamos a saber si funciona o no.
= Within one year we will know whether it works or not.
Es probable que la guerra estalle dentro de unas horas.
= It is possible that the wars starts within a few hours.
Dentro de la ciudad uno se siente seguro, por lo menos de día.
= Within the city one feels safe, at least during the day.
