Chapter 16: Interrogative clauses

In chapter 14.6 we already had a look at the verb gustar. Since it is such a challenging topic we'll have another couple of examples:

The important thing to remember is that the verb is conjugated according to the object that is like (which is the subject in these sentences) in gender and number. The person (I, you, he, she, we, you, they) is not the subject in those sentences, but they are indirect objects (dativo).

  Example gustar

El coche me gusta. = I like the car.

Los coches me gustan. = I like the cars.
La ciudad nos gusta. = We like the cars.
¿Por qué no os gustó la película? = Why didn't you like the film?
Aunque no le guste el trabajo, tiene que hacerlo.
= Even if he doesn't like the work he has to do it anyway.
