23.0 Suffixes - an introduction

With certain endings - called suffixes - the quality of a Spanish word can be changed. Some might have heard something like mi chiquito or bonisimo and maybe wondered what might it men. The English language does not use this type of classification of words; therefore, it might sound a bit strange.

There is the diminutivo that makes everything little and expresses an emotionally positive attitude. There is the aumentativo that makes everything bigger and mightier and there is despectivo that puts everything in a bad shape. All have a general meaning and in addition still a meaning that depends on the context, as we will see.
