  23.2 Aumentativo

The general and main meaning of the aumentativo is making things big or bigger. As well as the diminutivo it has also other meanings that are mostly negative. When using the aumentativo the association is usually (not always) negative, the meaning is towards primitive, raw, heavy, ponderous and rough. Aumentativo can have a masculine ending even though the original word is feminine! Moreover, aumentativos are quite often found in dictionaries with their meaning because they have their own place in the language.
